Promoting Sustainable Nutrient Stewardship Across Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania 4R Alliance works with farmers, ag retailers, and conservation leaders to deliver science-based nutrient management systems. Our goal: improve crop productivity, increase nutrient efficiency, and protect Pennsylvania’s waterways and farmland.

An Industry-Led Partnership for Pennsylvania Agriculture

Founded in 2012 by PennAg Industries, the Pennsylvania 4R Alliance is an industry-led partnership that connects farmers, agribusinesses, and conservation partners.

The Steering Committee includes: Rosetree Consulting (Executive Directors Eric & Brooke Rosenbaum), The Nature Conservancy, Growmark FS, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, PA NRCS, Timac Agro USA, Chemgro, and Syngenta.

Science-Based Solutions for Pennsylvania Farms:

We work directly with Pennsylvania farmers to:

  • Increase productivity and profitability through practical, field-tested nutrient strategies.
  • Enhance environmental conservation across Pennsylvania farming communities.
  • Expand adoption of sustainable 4R nutrient stewardship practices, including manure injection and precision application methods.
  • Support on-farm implementation of manure injection to improve nutrient placement, reduce runoff, and protect soil and water quality.
  • Provide anonymous nutrient management data to track regional progress and inform future programs.
  • Recognize producers and retailers leading in 4R adoption.
  • Share farmer success stories at conferences, field days, and outreach events
